Explomet has already created a material that exhibits excellent protective parameters at hyper-speeds in space. Thanks to the recent EU subsidy for research and investment in R & D facilities, even better materials for the chemical or energy industry will be created.
Department of High Energy Technologies EXPLOMET Gałka, Szulc Sp. J. operates in Opole, in Industrial Park Metalchem. The beginnings date back to 1990, created by Zygmunt Szulc and Aleksander Gałka company specializes in explosive metal cladding technology (several different materials with one shot). The expansion of the new part of the plant was possible thanks to the project implemented as part of the call for innovations from the Regional Operational Program of the Opole Voivodeship for the years 2014-2020. Explomet is the only such company in Poland and one of the few in Europe. It competes mainly with enterprises from the USA, Japan, Russia, and in recent years also from China.
The new facility will operate, among others an experimental station for welding sheets applied with the original clamping system, as well as a specialized and prototype stand for cutting metal composite materials with hybrid technology combining the possibilities of plasma cutting with the abrasive blasting (water) technique. In the next two years, as part of a separate project, an experimental station will be built to study the possibilities of mechanical and plastic processing of metallic composites.
The ceremonial opening of this facility was also the closing of the research and development phase of the project. The total value of the entire project amounted to nearly PLN 11 million, and the EU funding – just over PLN 6 million. – As far as its target and full functioning is concerned, the facility will certainly be retrofitted in the coming years. Things planned in the project have been implemented – explain Aleksander Gałka and Zygmunt Szulc.
