American manufacturer of passenger car parts officially opened the plant in Opole. This is the seventeenth factory of the concern in Europe.
– The factory’s location in Opole is not accidental. It will allow us to be close to the OEM industry and respond quickly to changing customer needs – said Steve Miller, president of IAC Group at the factory’s official opening.
Worth nearly $ 20 million investment was built on ten hectares in the Opole subzone of the WSEZ “Invest-Park” at Północna Street. The plant in Opole produces i.a. door interiors and dashboard coverings for premium Volvo cars that are sent to a factory in Torsland, Sweden. The company’s first production staff was recruited simultaneously with the plant’s construction. Ultimately, the factory will employ up to 700 employees.
– We have checked over thirty locations in Europe and several in Poland. We have decided to build a factory in Opole a year ago, seven months ago we broke the ground with a symbolic shovel for the investment, today we produce over 200 cockpits a week. We assume that by April 2018 production will reach 3200 vehicles per week. We have built solid foundations for a factory in which unique products will be created – said Mohamed Chakib, director of the IAC plant in Opole.
Representatives of the company emphasized that the decision on location of the factory in Opole was made because of a good investment climate, the city’s potential, qualified staff and cooperation with local institutions. – For Opole it is a double success, because with the investment of IAC, the CTPark industrial park is being built in the Opole subzone – said Maciej Wujec, vice president of Opole.
The International Automotive Components group employs 30,000 people in more than one hundred factories located in eighteen countries around the world. The company’s turnover reaches $ 6 billion a year. The headquarters is located in Luxembourg.
IAC is another automotive company that decided to invest in the Opole region. Previously, such a decision was made i.a. by the German IFA in Ujazd and the American Henniges Automotive in Prudnik. In Opole Region are also located: Mubea and Tru-Flex in Ujazd, Global Steering Systems Europe and Polaris in Opole or Donaldson and Johnson Controls in Skarbimierz.
