IFA Rotorion Lays the Foundation for Side Shaft Plant in Poland

Ujazd/Poland (July 21, 2016). On July 21, IFA Rotorion held a festive ceremony laying the foundation for a new side shaft plant in the Polish town of Ujazd. Attended by around 200 guests from the worlds of politics and business, as well as representatives from the automotive industry, Polish pastor Józef Żyłka blessed the foundation and expressed his wishes for a successful future of the new IFA location. In addition to a groundbreaking certificate, various contemporary documents such as daily newspapers, Polish Zloty, and euro coins were included in the time capsule.

The new IFA plant will take up operation in early 2017, initially with 90 employees. With investments totaling 100 million euros, the new location will be expanded to 400 employees by 2020. The Haldensleben-based specialist for drive shafts and joints is expanding its portfolio with side shafts, ensuring access to the strong growing market for light and small passenger cars as well as electric vehicles.

In his official speech, Felix von Nathusius, CEO of IFA Rotorion Holding GmbH, emphasized the great importance the new plant will have on the company’s global development: “In recent years, we have expanded our activities across the globe and successfully defended our leading position in the area of longitudinal shafts on the European and North American markets. Development and production of side shafts in Ujazd not only secures our presence on the East European automotive market, but also give us access to the quick-growing future market of electric vehicles. In working towards our goal of advancing to the top 100 largest automotive suppliers worldwide by 2025, today is an important milestone for us.” In addition to headquarters in Haldensleben (Germany), IFA Rotorion operates plants in Charleston, South Carolina (USA) and Shanghai (China).

The Polish special economic zone of Ujazd is looking forward to IFA Rotorion. In official speeches, Andrzej Buła (marshal of Opole Voivodeship), Tadeusz Kauch (mayor of the town of Ujazd), and Piotr Wojaczek (President of Katowice AG special economic zone) welcomed the CEO, advisory board, and employees of IFA Rotorion.
