The company Umicore, building a factory in Nysa, has signed an agreement with the University of Applied Sciences in Nysa regarding a new field of education and many related activities. They consider organizing conferences, scientific seminars, student internships and other activities related to battery technology. Work is underway to develop special lectures on clean mobility and the circular economy for the newly created specialty “Sustainable Development Engineering”, which was introduced by the University at the beginning of the academic year.

Students of the Master’s Degree in Management and Production Engineering at the Faculty of Technical Sciences can now choose this specialization which focuses on subjects such as lithium-ion battery cell technology, instrumental analysis in industrial processes, clean technologies and manufacturing processes, and sustainable energy systems.

In the new Research and Education Centre for Sustainable Development, laboratories will be established, equipped with top-class research and teaching equipment. Engineering students will have access to cutting-edge tools such as the latest 3D printers, five-axis robots, plotters, lasers and drones.

Umicore, as a world leader in cathode materials for lithium-ion batteries, will provide specialized knowledge to university and students.
